Foresight Solar’s income and growth proposition

For investors, renewable infrastructure is not just about exposure to the energy transition. It is about whether assets can generate reliable cash flows, adapt to changing electricity markets and create value over the long term.

Solar infrastructure has become an increasingly important part of the global energy system. Demand for affordable, secure and clean electricity continues to rise, while solar remains one of the lowest-cost and fastest-to-deploy forms of new generation.

For investors, however, the key question is not simply whether solar has a strong future. It is whether a portfolio of solar and battery storage assets can convert that long-term opportunity into reliable income, disciplined growth and shareholder value.

That is the foundation of Foresight Solar’s investment proposition.

Since listing in 2013, Foresight Solar has paid a dividend every quarter. Over that period, quarterly payouts have increased by 35%, and shareholders have received £438 million through dividends and share buybacks.

This track record reflects the strength of the Company’s operational portfolio and its ability to generate cash over time. Reliable income remains central to the investment case. Foresight Solar’s 2026 dividend target is 8.10 pence per share and is expected to be 1.1 times covered.

That income is supported by a diversified portfolio of operational solar assets, managed with a consistent focus on performance and availability. In the UK, Foresight Solar’s core market, the portfolio has outperformed its production budget in nine of the last 12 years.

Operational performance matters because small improvements in asset availability, generation and cost control can have a meaningful impact on long-term cash generation. Foresight Solar’s dedicated portfolio team has managed the assets since inception, building deep knowledge of the sites and their operating requirements.

The Company is also focused on providing an element of growth. Its development pipeline of solar and battery storage projects provides opportunities to realise value as electricity markets evolve.

Battery storage is increasingly important because it can help capture value from the difference between periods of high and low power prices, while also supporting the stability of a renewables-led grid.

Foresight Solar is also seeking to increase exposure to long-term contracted revenues through UK assets supported by Contracts for Difference. These contracts can provide greater revenue visibility by offering a fixed price for eligible low-carbon electricity generation, helping to strengthen the portfolio’s revenue profile.

This approach reflects disciplined capital allocation. By recycling capital from mature assets into development and construction opportunities, the Company aims to support sustainable long-term returns while maintaining a clear focus on income.

Foresight Solar’s investment trust structure is also important. As a closed-end vehicle, it allows shareholders to access renewable infrastructure assets that are typically difficult to invest in directly. The structure can support investment in long-term assets without the same cash-drag pressures faced by open-ended funds and can provide flexibility to use gearing within clear parameters.

That structure is supported by governance designed to promote transparency, accountability and alignment with shareholder interests. Foresight Solar is overseen by a fully independent Board of Directors and provides regular disclosure to help shareholders make informed decisions.

The energy transition will not move in a straight line. Power prices, interest rates, construction costs and regulation will continue to influence the sector. For investors, the companies best placed to navigate this environment will be those with operational discipline, experienced management, prudent capital allocation and a clear understanding of electricity markets.

Foresight Solar’s proposition is built around those qualities: reliable income today, exposure to long-term growth and a disciplined approach to managing renewable infrastructure assets through changing market conditions.
